Objectifs

The Coordination and Support Action ‘FIT4FOOD2030’ project supports the urgently needed transformation of research and innovation on Food and Nutrition Security (FNS) in Europe. This transformation is needed to future-proof the European food systems: to make them more sustainable and resilient, and to find solutions for the many food-related challenges Europe is facing, including hunger, malnutrition, obesity, climate change, scarce resources, and waste.

Description

The European Commission Directorate General for Research & Innovation (DG RTD) has developed a policy framework – FOOD2030 – identifying four priority areas for action for the coming decade: Nutrition for sustainable and healthy diets, Climate smart and environmentally sustainable food systems, Circularity and resource efficiency of food systems, and Innovation and empowerment of communities. FIT4FOOD2030 will provide suggestions to the EC regarding research and innovation opportunities. Those will come from stakeholders active in a multi-stakeholder platform, mobilising a wide variety of stakeholders at the level of cities, regions, countries, and Europe via City Labs (e.g. with support of Museums), Policy Labs and Science meetings.
