    GreenProtein, revalorisation of vegetable processing industry remnants into high-value functional proteins and other food ingredients.

    The general objective of the GreenProtein project, that will gather 9 different European partners during 4,5 years, is to establish a demo plant for the extraction and purification of functional RuBisCo protein isolate at industrial scale. GreenProtein will demonstrate the technical and economic feasibility of the revalorisation of green residues from existing agroindustry.

    RUBBex : From rubber particles of hevea latex to Natural Rubber structure and properties: towards optimizing the performances of Natural Rubber

    Natural Rubber (NR) exhibits very specific properties (low heat build-up, crystallization under strain, etc.) never mimicked by synthetic rubbers. However, NR presents important drawbacks: non consistency of its properties and a structuration dynamics that is still not fully understood.The RUBBex project aims to study and identify the main biochemical components and the mechanisms involved in the structuration of NR in order to optimize its performances.

    Traditional Food Network to improve the transfer of knowledge for innovation

    TRAFOON means a concentrated effort to reverse the trend of losing century-old recipes and traditional food products to preserve a diverse, healthy and tasty diet for the European citizens and to secure the income of traditional food producing SMEs.Within the project, an EU-wide network of shall be established with the aim to secure the knowledge transfer and implementation of already existing innovations regarding traditional foods to SMEs.

    SPectroscopies pour l’Evaluation et le Contrôle en Temps Réel de l’Etat physiologique de cellules biologiques

    Au coeur des bioprocédés, l'activité et l'état physiologique des microorganismes constituent aujourd'hui encore des variables difficilement quantifiables. Le projet collaboratif SPECTRE a pour objectif majeur de développer un système en ligne permettant la mesure en temps réel de l’état des microorganismes pendant une fermentation ou une culture de cellules. Il doit aboutir à l'élaboration d'outils génériques permettant le pilotage en temps réel de l'état de compétence des populations microbiennes cultivées.

    MetaGlyc 2 Collaborative Project: Bio-and chemo-catalyzed pathways to functionalized glycerol derivatives

    The MetaGlyc 2 project is developing new ways of obtaining glycerol derivatives by chemical catalysis and biocatalysis. The project specifically targets the conversion of glycerol to molecules such as diglycerin, diglycerin derivatives, oxidation products such as glyceric acid and new metabolites such as the amino alcohol serinol. Another focus of the joint project is the biocatalytic transesterification of natural plant oils using engineered lipases with improved acyltransferase activity.

  • Agrobiofilm


    Development of enhanced biodegradable films for agricultural activities
    Agrobiofilm project (FP7 Research for SME’s) aims to develop a new generation of biodegradable mulch films tailored for specific short, medium and long-term crops (vineyards, muskmelons, sweet peppers, strawberries), and different regions (Spain Portugal, France). For this purpose, the new mulch film should meet the dual technical challenge of (i) full mechanical resistance during crop cultivation that is a particular issue for longer cycle crops such as vineyard, and (ii) biodegradation i.e. degradation and full soil absorption before a subsequent crop is planted. To achieve this objective, new scientific knowledge should be generated i) in biodegradable formulations adapted to crops physiological requirements; ii) optimization of material processing with the aim to reduce energy costs; iii) influence of the new films on soil quality and total yields, and iv) integration of crop requirements with LCA results to evaluate wider applications potential. This project involves several end-users (SME) and research performers (RTD) located in Portugal, Spain, Denmark, Norway and France.
